KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, May 28, IWN – US$40 million is available to this country from the Bolivarian Alliance for Our Americas (ALBA) Bank after a visit to this country earlier this month by a delegation led by the bank’s president.

Prime Minister Dr, Ralph Gonsalves made the announcement to Parliament on Monday during the debate on the Public Sector Projects (ALBA Bank) Loans (Amendment) Bill, 2013.

Gonsalves’ comments came as he responded to Central Kingstown representative, St. Clair Leacock, criticism that the “coalition of willing nations” is no longer willing to contribute to the EC$652 million project.

“The Honourable Member for Central Kingstown said … that I am changing the goalpost because the initial arrangements have fallen through — the coalition of the willing is no longer willing.

“If they are not willing, how is it that the president of Venezuela, within a few weeks of inauguration sends the president of the ALBA bank to tell me that US$40 million is available? Mr. Speaker, how is it that Cuba sent down their vice-minister to head a 10-member delegation to see what we want?” Gonsalves further said.

“In fact, the Venezuelans want, Mr. Speaker, to send a few persons from their construction brigade to help us, a few technical persons. And, if they do, I will get the Chatoyer-Che Contingent changed [to] Chatoyer-Che- Chavez contingent. They’re a useful addition in memory of the great leader from Venezuela,” he further said in reference to Hugo Chavez who died in March.

  1. Like his police force I seriously believe Gonsalves is totally out of control. In fact I believe he was never under the control of the people or even his own electorate or party. The man is only answerable unto himself, I believe he makes decisions off his own back and every day takes us further and further into the mire. He may well have meetings with cabinet, but I believe its only to tell them what he is doing and the way it is, then asking them to rubber stamp his already taken decisions and actions. I believe that his ministers fear him, his elected members and unelected members fear him, and many Vincention citizens fear him.

Will this coalition of the willing ever be exposed as an absolute confidence trick on a massive scale against the people of SVG?

We were told that all these people, all these countries, because they were his friends were willing to unequivocally help us and it would cost us nothing, they were willing to do this out of love and comradeship, but only for Gonsalves, no other politician on the opposition could do this if Gonsalves were to lose his position as prime minister. This group because of their commitment to Gonsalves would be known as the coalition of the willing.

The coalition of the willing turned out to be a coalition of the unwilling. The Cubans have to be paid, the Venezuelans have to be paid, ALBA makes loans to us which have to be repaid. The Venezuelans who according to Gonsalves would be paying the wages and expenses of the Cubans, have not paid a dollar, and will not pay a dollar, owing us upwards of $20 million for the Cubans employment costs. We have brought the majority of the equipment with loans and the selling of the family silver, our lands has been sold to foreign buyers, hardly anything left for our children and future population expansion. I personally consider Cuba and Venezuela as communist leaches, with no regard at all for us, only regard for themselves.

I believe that Hugo Chavez stopped willingly helping us after the alleged conversations between Gonsalves and the US Ambassador in Barbados was exposed in US documents by WIKILEAKS, badmouthing Chavez, the Castros’s and other ALBA members.

Gonsalves told parliament that when the airport project is finished we would not owe any thing to anyone and we would have no debts. At another time, his cousin Julian Francis, the only man that has no fear for Gonsalves told us also that Gonsalves had told him this. What we were told, in my mind must be a lie and a deception committed on the Vincentian citizens.

What is this crap ” Chatoyer-Che-Chavez Contingent” what bank anywhere in the World would make that part of the terms of a loan agreement. Not a single one, I believe that is Gonsalves own decision, its all part of his own ideology. One thing I am sure of, most Vincentians object to the monster murderer Che Guavara and they also object to Hugo Chavez, an anti-Semitic bigot, the man that helped lose us the St Georges medical college and in doing so helped bankrupt SVG, I and many others object to these two dead communists being any part of our airport project.

We must ask ourselves is Gonsalves a really dictator wrapped in the clothing of a reasonable and democratic man. I have my opinions, what are yours?

    IS HE

  3. Loans Loans and more Loans. Who are going to be paying back these Loans? A country cannot survive on credit alone. Is this the policy of the ULP, borrowing and spending money. What about money generation? shame to see my country in this state.

  4. INSANEBLANE, where do you LIVE?

Wherever you LIVE, FIND out if the GOVERNMENT has DEBT.

That said; you cannot DEVELOP a COUNTRY that has no NATURAL RESOURCES than its PEOPLE without BORROWING.

If you know a SOLUTION to DEVELOPING St. Vincent and the Grenadines without BORROWING, FEEL FREE to SHARE IT with US.

Of course, you DO NOT HAVE a CLUE and so you will not PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION, just MORE NEGATIVE BICKERING.

It is a GOOD THING that the VISIONARY LEADER, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, the BEST PRIME MINISTER in the ENTIRE CARIBBEAN, doesn’t LISTEN to the NOISE coming from the COMMESS POLITICIANS in the NDP and their SILLY SUPPORTERS, else St. Vincent and the Grenadines would have NO EDUCATION REVOLUTION, NO JETPORT in CANOUAN, NO HOUSING REVOLUTION, NO RABACCA BRIDGE, NO HOSPITAL IN GEORGETOWN, NO NEW POLICE STATIONS, NO NEW PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS, NO NATIONAL LIBRARY, NO RENOVATED PEACE MEMORIAL HALL, NO $225.00 POOR RELIEF for POOR and DISADVANTAGE PEOPLE, NO PAN AGAINST CRIME INITIATIVE, NO Y.E.S. PROGRAMME, NO PETRO CARIBE and ALBA, NO LAPTOP FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN, NO MAJOR NURSING PROGRAMME and so on and so on and so on.

This LEADER, Dr. RALPH GONSALVES, WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY as the BEST PRIME MINISTER that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has EVER HAD, PERIOD, by FAR!!!

So while you KNUCKLEHEADS continue to spew SILLY NEGATIVITY instead of ACKNOWLEDGING the POSITIVES and ACCOMPLISHMENTS of this PROGRESSIVE LEADER and GOVERNMENT, the nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines continues to MOVE FORWARD despite your NOISE MAKING.

Oh yeah, here is a clip for the CLUELESS NOISE MAKERS of the NDP and the DETRACTORS of Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

Do you remember when Eustace was saying that the public service workforce was too big and there should be cuts among other austerity measures that he wanted Dr. Gonsalves to take?

Do you remember when he and the NDP RELIGIOUSLY PRAISED the IMF?

Do you remember when he praised capitalism over socialism???

Again, I wouldn’t HIRE Arnhim Eustace and the NDP to MANAGE a MAUBY SHOP much less GOVERN a COUNTRY.
