Airing of BBC show about Harlequin postponed

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, March 25, IWN — The BBC show about Harlequin, the company that owns Buccament Bay Resort, will not air today — Monday — as originally scheduled.

“It is not going to be broadcast today in the U.K.,” Matthew Hill, a journalist working on the programme told I-Witness News on Monday.

He however said he “can’t say” why the programme was no longer going to broadcast and that he “can’t comment … at the moment” about when or if the programme will be broadcast.

The Panorama programme, dubbed “The Great Savings Wipe Out”, was originally scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One at 20:30 GMT (16:30 Eastern Caribbean) today and at 04:30 GMT (00:30 Eastern Caribbean) on Thursday on BBC News Channel.

But the show’s website says that the episode “is not scheduled for broadcast” and suggested that visitors sign up for an alert for when it is available.

But a well-placed source, citing a BBC insider, told I-Witness News that the BBC is hoping that the programme will air in the near future.

The situation was described as “sensitive” at the moment, the source further said, adding that the impression was that the BBC was still gathering information.

Meanwhile, in the show promo, the BBC says, that chair of Harlequin, Dave Ames, a “twice-bankrupt, former double glazing salesman from Essex has collected an estimated quarter of a billion pounds from investors, which is now at risk”.

It further said that in one of Britain’s biggest ever pension scandals, Ames promised to build luxury rental homes in the Caribbean, including here in St. Vincent.

“However, reporter Paul Kenyon finds most of the planned properties have yet to be built and there are disputes over planning permission and land ownership,” the promo further said.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has complained to the BBC about the “rude approach” of Kenyon and Hill when they asked him on a landed plane in Barbados in February about an allegation that Ames had gone to his office with a bag of money and left without it.

It was not clear if the delay in the airing of the programme was in any way related to Gonsalves’ complaint.

I will HOLD my THOUGHTS for a BIT LONGER on the CANCELLATION of this show.

  2. Well, folks were waiting with bated breath for this show…like my mom. My mom-an NDP apologist, called me last week, reminded me to look for the show on the internet, ah say, mom, I am not interested in the show as I have concluded that this whole debacle of bribery allegations-the part she is mostly interested in- was a sideshow to spice up the initial story of David Ames and his alleged fraudulent business practice…suffice it to say she was not pleased by my response and proceeded to lecture me on the ineptitude of the ULP and how they are a blight to Vincyland. No argument there. Today my mom called me again, asking why the show was cancelled…obviously upset…I don’t know mom…but I suspect it had to with the legal juggernaut of Harlequin and they put a bulwood on the BBC; they have been relentless in strong-arming critics by way of libel law suits etc, just ask Jeremy Andrews. Maybe the BBC realized they need more substantive information to support their theory of David Ames being a crook. All in all, ah think a cease and desist letter was handed to the BBC and they bow. It would be interesting to know the timeline as to when the BBC actually decided to pull this show. Maybe there is more damning evidence to come to light later on and the BBC is just re-calibrating? Maybe there is a video of Gonsalves with a briefcase of money, checking it and telling Ames, but wait, you told me 20, this is only 15, WTF Davy? And Ames saying, well I had to give your “help” 5 for being the transporter…to which Gonsalves responded, wait a f’king minute, you give that dumbass 5 for transport? All he needs is a shower, some lumber and galvanize…and my perfect middle finger…wey wrong wid you Davy…and you call yourself a schemer?

I know the ULP sycophants are weeping with joy, proclaiming divine intervention to the postponement of the BBC show. No doubt this is the work of their God-King,Ralph. And the Ralphites call out in a loud voice:The path of the ULP is protected on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Cursed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly Ames enemy and the leader of NDP . And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brother Ames. And you will know my name is the Ralph when I lay my weight upon thee. Cmen.

Since around 2009 and possibly earlier; the British Media have been hounding Mr Ames and his company for questionable business dealings and yet Mr Ames is still walking around a free man;as a matter of fact, one newspaper had to issue an apology to Mr Ames for their reporting. What gives? Well, its either of two things, Mr Ames is the most reputable and honest business man around, being woefully unfairly treated by the Media and I dare say the NDP;or Mr Ames is the most unscrupulous and diabolical cunning business man to grace this earth and the Media and the Authorities, are simply too dumb to catch him. You decide.

  3. Where is PETER the PUMPKIN EATER and the INSANEBLANE?

I guess Peter has PUMPKIN all over his FACE and BLANE is CURRENTLY in the ASYLUM.

Peter, all that YAP and GOBBLE GOBBLE you SPEWED about Dr. Gonsalves, to such an extent that you INSANELY STATED that the BBC REPORTERS should be “sited” at some future time for an award. At the same time they should be invited here as friends of the nation,” only shows that you’re a COMPLETE NUTCASE.

I only have PITY on the “RALPH HATERS.” Sad set of people they’re.

That said; Teacherfang is a “SAADISS,” because part of his logic can only lead one to CONCLUDE that the people at SCOTLAND YARD is too DUMB to CATCH Mr. Ames.

It is a good thing that this is just a BLOG, because it would have been quite SCARY if these FELLAS were in a POSITION to make DECISIONS of NATIONAL IMPORTANCE.
