Fya Empress wins 2nd Vincy Mas 2012 crown

Lornette “Fya Empress” Nedd is National Calypso Monarch 2012.

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Lornette “Fya Empress” Nedd won her second crown for Vincy Mas 2012 when she bagged the National Calypso Monarch title at Victoria Park Sunday night.

She staved off tough competition from Fitzroy “Brother Ebony” Joseph, who was second, and former national monarch and queen of calypso Bridgette “Joy-C” Creese, who took the third position.

Last year’s winner, Maxwell “Tajoe” Francis, was fourth after performances that undoubtedly left some fans disappointed.

Fya Empress won the Ragga Soca Monarch two Fridays ago and was second in the Soca Monarch competition Saturday night.

  2. Big congrats to Fya for a much deserved win. This is definitely her break out year. She was always on the cusp of busting out with her consistency. Hope to hear a lot from her in the future.
