69-year-old woman raped

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Police here are investigating the rape of a 69-year-old woman of Mala Village, Sion Hill, East Kingstown.

The assault took place around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, sources tell I-Witness News.

The details of the crime are still unclear but it came even as police are yet to make an arrest in the case involving the suspected sexual assault and murder of Rose Bank resident Lafrone Lockhart.

Lafrone Lockhart was found dead on March 23 (Photo: Searchlight.vc).

The body of the mentally challenged 22-year-old mother of an eight-year-old girl was found in an area called Catty Beach, between Rose Bank and Petit Bordel, in North Leeward on March 22.

An autopsy revealed that she was strangled and a relative told Searchlight newspaper that because of Lockhart’s mental condition, she was frequently a victim of sexual assault.

Police had detained one individual in connection with Lockhart’s death but the person was released after questioning.

Last September, Marion John, 78, of Fitz Hughes, North Leeward, was raped and murdered in her home.

Police have not reported any connection between the three cases.

  2. I cannot believe what I am reading. A 22 year old Special needs female with an 8 year old child?
Neighbour says she had often been a victim of sex predators?
Was this innocent person getting the help needed? God sees the tiniest creature that falls. Justice for this lovely young lady will come..

  3. Least we forget

January 1st 2008: A female police constable, Michele Andrews, accused Prime Minister Gonsalves of raping her while she was on duty at his official residence. Shortly after the accusations, Colin Williams the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) discontinued the case. The Prime Minister Ralph E. Gonsalves, in his capacity as Minister of Legal Affairs, had direct influence over the case and the DPP’s decision. The victim’s lawyers appealed the discontinuation to the High Court and to the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal, but both appeals were denied. The victim’s lawyers then petitioned the family court to issue a summons against Gonsalves for indecent assault and rape. Two weeks later the victim changed her lawyers and dropped all accusations. Shortly after the case became public, Margaret Parsons, a Canadian originally from Saint Vincent, alleged that in 2003 Prime Minister Gonsalves attacked her and attempted to rape her. A sexual assault charge was filed on behalf of Parsons; however, two weeks later Colin Williams the DPP again discontinued the case and a High Court justice refused permission for the lawyers to seek a judicial review.

  4. Kenton!, this is some poor arse reporting. The headline of this article is about a 69 yr old woman being raped, yet the gist of the article is about another victim. C’mon the construction of this article is on a fifth grade level or in other words, you are writing like vincypowa!

Anyway, all I can say, Vincyland needs Jesus at this moment…oh wait, Jesus is the Prime Minister…Jesus Sucks!!!

    • Saadis, be careful with certain statements such as your final phrases. If you are an atheist, I’m sorry but that does not change the fact that Jesus is God and God all by Himself. There is no place for cynicism when it comes to our precious Lord Jesus. You need to ask God /Jesus for forgiveness.

  7. They’re supposed to set up a forensics laboratory in SVG,one has to wonder though, suppose they found evidence implicating someone in high political office in rape, how quickly will that lab tech be transferred to nemo? You can’t have a justice/legal system that appears to be politically biased it is bad for every citizen not just the opposition, there needs to be equal justice for all regardless of political,or biological pigmentation.

  9. Now c’mon people though some good points were mentioned, how exactly does this/these rape cases or stories ended up on the prime minister,is he to be blamed for every wrong that occur on our soil?I even saw a story where the prime minister was being blamed for rats in one of the kingstown primary school…. Now seriously!!! Why don’t we go ahead and blame him when our kids are not learning in school, let go ahead and blame him for teenage pregnancy and hiv increases…..don’t stop there let’s blame the worst man in the world as some see. It dr ralph gonsalves for our childrens up brigging as amatter of fact let’s let’s blame him for the crime rate in TRINIDAD too wat the heck me might as well do that…

    • The Prime Minister was the one who wanted to make it hard for women to report rape,he even wanted to charge them a fee to process the rape claim.Your a woman how do you feel about that. Everybody knows that the comrade is a sexual …, it’s no surprise. So yes, the rapest them know that they have a friend in the PM when it comes to rape.

  10. ERICA, that is a pretty stupid analogy.

Gonsalves is generally unsuitable as a leader because he is a serial liar, no one can believe anything that he says, we must therefore reject him. He told us “show me a liar and I will show you a thief”. He signed a contract for the teachers, which he knew at the time was unconstitutional and unenforceable, then told them it was a wonderful document.

At times his behaviour is crass and indecent, and he utters disgracful names at and about people, in an attempt to belittle or destroy them.

I consider him a very spiteful man, of bad upbringing and no true humanity.

I must ask “would you buy a second hand car from this man”.

  11. There are no rapes in SVG just “reassuring kisses”,St.Vincent has had the highest incidence of “reassuring kisses” under the ulp.The Comrade needs to be questioned, since as a former criminal attorney,he can offer insights into the mind of a rapist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXJx5mORmMI

  12. Gonsalves was charged with rape.

  13. Charged with rape, not kissing. I understand his breath smells like sewer, so not to many have experianced the kissing thing.
