Tickets sold out as Windies face Australia in 3rd ODI

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Local cricket officials say that persons without tickets for today’s cricket One-Day International (ODI) between the West Indies and Australia should not come to the Arnos Vales Playing Field.

All tickets for the match sold out yesterday, one day after the regional team won their first ODI against Australia since 2006.

The West Indies is hoping for a repeat of Sunday’s outcome, which would give them a 2-1 series lead ahead of the final two games in St Lucia. If they can convert the expected support into another victory today, the West Indies will give themselves an even better chance of defeating Australia in a one-day series for the first time since 1995.

But the Australians have also taken note of the West Indies’ intentions and analysts say that the regional team will be reluctant to make changes to the squad that won on Sunday but might consider such a move for the fourth and fifth matches.

Meanwhile, Australia, have made one change to their team, including offspinner Nathan Lyon, who is expected to take advantage of the low pitch at Arnos Vale, while batsman Peter Forrest will spectate.

In the match on Sunday, Kieron Pollard’s partnership with Dwayne Bravo lapped up the Australian’s modest total in the rain-affected match. The West Indies held Australia to 154 for 9 and had their target adjusted to 158 from 40 overs because of rain.

The tourists were sent in to bat after they loss the toss. The West Indies most likely made that decision because of the threat of rain at the pitch that tends to favour the first side to bat.

The Australians saw their tally slide to 46 for 3 with wickets falling regularly before they ended their outing at 154 for 9.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, who was at the pitch on Sunday when the West Indies registered the victory, declared today a public holiday to allow citizens to see the third game in the series.

Gonsalves was also among spectators on Friday when the Australians registered a 64-runs victory against the regional team, making 204 for 8, after batting first.

Former West Indies cricket great Michael Holding commented on that loss when he appeared as a guest Saturday on “Press Sports”, a local radio programme hosted by journalist E. Glenford Presscott.

Holding, who is now a cricket commentator, said that while the West Indies bowled and fielded rather well, “the batting did us down terribly”.

He said that deciphering what happened to the West Indies during Friday’s match “is not something that you can handle so easily.

“People can keep rolling out the same old phrase about not concentrating and not adapting. It’s not as simple as that. There has to be other things that come into play when things like that continue to happen to a team. Because nobody can tell me that these players haven’t got a bit more talent than they are actually showing,” he said.

Holding said that while the Arnos Vale pitch gets slower as the match progresses and both captains wanted to bat first, in the previous 20 ODIs played at the facility, ten teams that batted first have won while ten teams that batted second have won.

“So you know what you are getting. You know you have got to adapt to the slower nature of the pitch when you are batting second and you apply yourself accordingly. It wasn’t a pitch where you could say once you lose the toss you have lost. It is not that sort of a pitch. But you know … that it is going to be better batting first; so you have got to apply yourself a bit better batting second,” he said.

  1. Happy for my Vincie brethren. You all go out and de-stress. We certainly need it in these tough times. Windies wins or loses, ENJOY. Hope and a bright future to all my great Vincies. We shall overcome, in EVERY respect.

    That includes you too, VincyPowa.

  2. SHOULD I BE ABLE TO GET MY BLOOD PRESSER MEDS COST BACK FROM THE WEST INDIES CAMP? I REALLY DO THINK SO.

  3. I thought VINCIES could not buy half a pound of chicken back or half a cake of soap, because the country was so poor.

I thought the country was bankrupt, so why did SVG make history yesterday?

Yesterday’s crowd at the Arnos Vale Complex was the BIGGEST in the HISTORY of that venue.

Our nation was on DISPLAY and the BEAUTY of our LANDSCAPE SHINED BRIGHTLY and MAJESTICALLY for the WORLD to see.

Yes, we should have won that game, but what these matches have done for our TOURISM INDUSTRY, not even the BUDGET for that MINISTRY can MATCH it.

Of course, one has to give Dr. Gonsalves and his government kudos for UPGRADING the Arnos Vale Complex and for putting investment policies in place that led to the building of the BUCCAMENT BAY RESORT by INVESTORS.

This is a PROJECT that the UNPATRIOTIC NDP and their FANATICAL SUPPORTERS called a PHANTOM PROJECT, but the Australians said it is the BEST venue that they have stayed in since they have been coming to the West Indies to play cricket. They also PRAISED the NATURAL BEAUTY of this LAND and for that, we are THANKFUL, because the word will get around and more tourists will come to our shores.

The CROWNING GLORY of the VISION of this PROGRESSIVE ULP GOVERNMENT, under the LEADERSHIP of Dr. Gonsalves, is the INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT at ARGYLE. Again, the UNPATRIOTIC NDP and their FANATICAL supporters said it was a PHANTOM PROJECT.

We are now seeing before our VERY EYES that this was just another FALSE CLAIM, of too many to count, by the unpatriotic NDP and their NEGATIVE supporters.

The CROWNING GLORY of this GOVERNMENT will be one that is TRANSFORMATIONAL, because it is going to OPEN UP OPPORTUNITIES and POSSIBILITIES never EXPERIENCED before in the HISTORY of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

As the saying goes, WHERE THERE IS NO VISION THE PEOPLE PERISH.

Lucky for our nation and people, we have a GOVERNMENT with VISION, because if the LEADERLESS NDP were the GOVERNMENT of the DAY, the people and the nation most definitely would have PERISHED.

Again, kudos to all the parties involved who made the three matches at the Arnos Vale Complex an economic success. It gives this government and the people CONFIDENCE that this BLESSED NATION is HEADING in the RIGHT DIRECTION.

    • WHERE THERE IS NO VISION THE PEOPLE PERISH. This is not just a saying VincyPowa, the Bible says so.

  5. LOL. When there is no economic management you cannot pay bills. Its amazing, when the government could not pay its phone bills, the likes of Justice and Powa could not be found, but a sold out one day cricket match brings them out to thump their chest. Thats fine, make this cricket about politics, i don’t mind. But let me point out the the man of the match of that same game cuss the shit out of the government of SVG because of the state of the roads in SVG, [WHEN THERE IS NO MONEY TO FIX ROADS, THE TOURISTS COMPLAINS].
And its this vision that led to water, lights, and phones cutting of. Its the same vision that led to people not getting paid on time, especially those who did not get paid for 5 straight weeks over the christmas holidays.

But if you guys has any vision you would take a look at the article below, and that would give you some insight as to how some people where able to treat themselves to a cricket match [some people]. So its there vision that got them there and not necessarily the vision of the PM…… like they say in svg these days, WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE TURN TO WEED.

  7. It is rather stupid for persons to imply that a sold out cricket match is a reflection of a good economy. Cricket is a sport loved by the people and ODI is a big lime and party for may.
I am sure the persons implying such do not reside in SVG. If they did they would have knowledge of the level of prostitution and begging that went on to allow our young males and females to these matches.
Well I gues they will also say that things are great in SVG due to the amount of BlackBerry cell phones owned by the nation youth. And thats BlackBerry handsets with Data…. Average EC$44.00 mothly just for the Data.
Come on guys, if we are for a better SVG, we must say it as it is. It is a fact that many people in SVG cant afford very basic and below basic needs. Alot of it is their poor choices and band money management. However, alot of it is that we are in a terribly mismanaged economy and being lead by a bunch that’s spending the nations money on whats politically good for them and not whats economically good for all.

    Peace.

  8. VINCYPOWA, everyone knows that about 50% of those at the match got free tickets. Children up to sixteen and people over 55, free. If they didn’t give away these tickets the stadium would of been half empty.

18% sports tourist, 49% free tickets, 33% paying Vincentians.

It seems just about everything you have ever posted is based on lies, but sport, how can you lie about sport.

The country is broke, you know that, Gonsalves knows that, and everyone knows that. What we need to be sure of is that those in the Diaspora know that.
Regardless of your lies, its a fact that many people are buying half pound of chicken back, 1 egg, quarter and sometimes half pound of rice, half bar of washing soap.
Hospitals and clinics still short and in many cases without supplies of critical medicines and dressings.
Hundreds of Kingstown traders owed money by the government some for up to 3 years.
Truck drivers from Georgetown owed money for work they did following the hurricane and the floods.
Farmers who had there land taken for the airport at Argyle, still not paid for their land.
Banana industry completely wrecked because the government could not afford to spray against disease.
Government unable to pay for electricity, water and phone bills, making it necessary to bilk these companies.
Telephones actually cut off for non payment by government.
Roads riddled with holes and serious damage because the government has no money to repair them.
Government workers and some teachers being paid weeks and sometimes months late.
Payment to poor and disabled people sometimes paid weeks late.
Argyle Airport virtually at a stand still, lack of money.
AND YOU VINCYPOWA ARE TRYING TO TELL US THERE IS PLENTY OF MONEY

Yet still Venezuela owes us in excess of $10 million, that we have paid out for Cuban workers wages.

Gonsalves seeks money from crap states like Iran, we vote for Iran at the UN to protect them against sanctions for their human rights abuse. They murder, rape, execute, stone, whip and generally abuse and Iranian Christians, just for being Christians. When we take mopney from these crap states we are accepting dirty money, blood money. Some believe that the Argyle airport is now cursed and are calling it the Christian Blood Airport [CBA].

Here are a few of the crap states that we associate with, and linked up with.
    Iran
    Cuba
    Venezuela
    Syria
    Libya under the Gadhaffi regime.
    North Korea
and an assortment of Marxist and dictator led regimes.

Gonsalves signed us up to ALBA, a consortium of countries led by political lunatics, Marxist’s, Dictators and Apprenticed Dictators like Gonsalves. Gonsalves did not have the consent of the people in signing up to ALBA.

The question is VINCYPOWA, who is paying your internet bill, we already have the answer to that, you are part of the Marxist scum brigade. Paid to attack whatever is true but may damage the ULP and Gonsalves in particular.
I have noticed in some post’s you have been likened on a number of occasions to Hitler’s collaborators.

You are such a stupid person that your rants and lies instead of helping the ULP and Gonsalves, actually cause them damage. Because any decent person reading your stupid posts would never support any political group that behaves in such a way and obviously are a group of serial liars.

What a dreadful life you must lead, where you cannot differentiate between truth and lies. Of course that’s part of Marxist doctrine, isn’t it?

  9. As for the wonderful Buccament Resort, they also owe money to Vincentian suppliers and contractors.

    Posted by Peter | March 24, 2012, 11:21
  10. Yet you still see ULP Ministers and Senators collecting car loads of cooked food for their fetts from the resort, and I am told that it is a regular freebie feeding station for ULP government.

  11. Vincy powa, the number one vincentian notorious liar, your comment is as follows: Because if the leaderless NDP were the government of the day,the people and the nation most definitely would have perished. Vincy Powa when will you stop talking shit. NDP was in power for four terms under Prime Minister Mitchell where in that era can you record that the nation suffered? People under this present ULP Govt is crying out more for foodcost, watercost, lightcost and all the other cost and expenses a man can think about in comparison to when NDP was in power.BOY WHY FOR ONCE YOU JUST DON’T STOP MAKING A FOOL OF YOUR SELF. FURTHER MORE WHAT DOES A LARGE TURNOUT AT A ONE DAY CRICKET,OR EVEN AT A ONE DAY REGGAE FESTIVAL OR SOCA MONARCH HAS TO TO WITH THE THE HIGH COST OF LIVING AND OFF SET ECONOMY IN ‘STVINCENT AND THE GRENADINES?
EVERY ONE BY NOW KNOWS THAT VINCY POWA IS THE BIGGEST CLOWN IN ‘STVG’. IF ANY BODY IS READY TO PAY VINCY POWA MONEY TO DRESSED HIMSELF UP IN CLOWN GRARMENTS WITH A SIGN TAG TO HIS BACK AND ONE TO HIS CHEST saying “Vincentian most amusing clown” I will be ready to support financially. I THINK HE WILL MAKE MORE MONEY DOING THIS THAN WHAT THOSE NDP BOYS GIVING HIM.

  12. Good day Prof., I don’t see VincyPowa as a clown, I see him as pure evil, a collaborator of the worst kind. Someone who is willing to sell out a friend, family or country for a handful of shekels.

His lies cause severe damage to the country by keeping in power a Marxist regime that has turned out to be a disaster for just about everyone except those paid collaborators like himself.

This type of collaborator brought Hitler to power, Stalin to power, Lenin to power, Chavez to power, the Castro’s to power. Then to help perpetuate that power against the well being of decent people.

He is obviously a Godless man, an indecent man, someone we should regard as garbage. He is one of those that most people would describe as scum.

I do understand your meaning to what you wrote, that VincyPowa would do anything for money.

Prof your input is always welcomed, I dare-say that our posts will bring a robust reply from him, just watch for the word BUB, that is his sign off word when he is peed off.

  13. Peter I must have to agree with your opinion about VincyPowa. I believed when they had the citizen road block encouraged and instigated by Gonsalves prior to ULP going into office,Vincy Powa was probably one of the master supporter during that time. As you said it well the rise to power by men like F. castro, Sadam.H, Hitler and so forth is part of Vincy powa and the ULP strategy. But honestly Vincypowa carry on like some body taking crack and cocaine.

  14. MY NUTTY and DECEITFUL PROFESSOR, ever heard of over 200 MILLION DOLLARS DOLLARS OTTLEY HALL FIASCO that up to this day James Mitchell refuses to give testimony as to what happened?

Ever heard of the MILLIONS of DOLLARS WASTED on TRAFFIC LIGHTS?

EVER HEARD about the 20+ MILLION DOLLARS WRITE OFF for the UNION ISLAND MARINA?

Ever heard of the DOUBLE MORTGAGES RECEIVED by MONGOL SINGH for the FAILED COLONIAL HOMES at DIAMOND under EUSTACE’S WATCH?

EVER HEARD of another FOREIGNER WALKING out of the NCB with over a MILLION DOLLARS?

Ever heard that SVG was on MANY INTERNATIONAL BLACKLIST?

Ever HEARD of over 2 MILLION DOLLARS for DRUGS owed to the OECS PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY?

Ever HEARD of EUSTACE PAYING FOREIGN BANKS some 19 MILLION DOLLARS for the OTTLEY HALL PROJECT instead of PAYING the UNIVERSITY of the WEST INDIES the FEES OWED to KEEP our STUDENTS in SCHOOL?

Do you REMEMBER when the NDP basically gave away the DISTILLERY to the GREAVES?

I can go on and on.

And this was DURING a TIME when the GLOBAL ECONOMY was BOOMING, especially the USA.

Now IMAGINE if the LEADERLESS NDP was in OFFICE during the GLOBAL ECONOMIC MELTDOWN, nothing more than DISASTER would have TAKEN PLACE in this NATION.

    See you around BUB.

  15. It is QUITE INTERESTING and AMUSING how my NUTTY and DECEITFUL PROFESSOR and PETER are working in tandem, but in an INEFFECTIVE MANNER, to give the IMPRESSION that somehow their SILLINESS is making headway on this blog.

Fellas, or is it just one fella, cheerleading for each other is not the recipe for being taken seriously.

That said; in which supermarket in St. Vincent and the Grenadines do you have half a cake of soap and half a pound of chicken back being sold?

Peter, please give us the FACTS on how you know that “everyone knows that about 50% of those at the match got free tickets.” This should be quite interesting.

I would not want to call you a LIAR, because I know you will be able to PROVIDE the DATA to show that EVERYONE knows that about 50% of those at the match got free tickets.

Peter, tell us how much monies the PRIVATE SECTOR OWES this GOVERNMENT.

Peter, give us the LIST of TEACHERS that you know who have not been paid for months.

That said; let us see if Peter is telling TRUTH about the ARGYLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is at a VIRTUAL STANDSTILL as well.

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends-of-the-Argyle-International-Airport/255896234421808?sk=photos

LADIES and GENTS, is PETER correct in that the Argyle International Airport is at a VIRTUAL STANDSTILL?

Well, the pictures and videos do not LIE unlike Peter’s FINGERTIPS to KEYS.

It is amazing how the person that goes by the alias PETER could talk about me LYING on one hand and then turned around and created a POST MOSTLY LITTERED with LIES. I think Peter has been hanging around the NDP too long.

As for the deceitful and nutty professor, his vitriol laden post is not worthy of a response. Moreover, it seems like he has some sort of anger management issues that he needs professional help with to overcome. I am suggesting that he seeks professional counseling, because it seems like he is suffering from a serious case of CYCLOTHYMIA.

By the way, could you IMAGINE these fellas holding positions of authority in a government…SCARY is it?
    SEE U AROUND BUB.

    PAPER…oops…PETER, SPREAD LOVE NOT HATE.

  16. Great post VINCYPOWA, great if you like crap and lies.

Now VINCYPOWA you are clearly out of your depth, your getting upset and abusive.

What is great everyone can see you for what you are, a complete tosser.

Spread love not hate, how about peanut butter and jelly?

By the way, pay the Calliaqua people back their money.

  17. PETER, you have this PROPENSITY to not ANSWER QUESTIONS ask of you when you’re CAUGHT SPREADING CHILDISH PROPAGANDA, so I will repeat them again.

On what FACTUAL EVIDENCE is the ARGYLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT at a VIRTUAL STANDSTILL?

Do you know how much money the PRIVATE SECTOR OWE this GOVERNMENT?

Who are these TEACHERS that have not been paid for months?

By the way, “SPREAD LOVE NOT HATE.”

    See you around BUB.

    LATA.

  18. PETER, here is an UPDATE on the ARGYLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT that you CLAIM is at a “VIRTUAL STANDSTILL.”

    Posted by vincypowa | March 29, 2012, 09:20
  19. The difference between me and you is that I visit the airport on a daily if not weekly basis and have taken a whole series of photos and videos for historical fact. When I’m off island I have a team of people doing it for me. I don’t take much notice of what the government tell us because like you VINCYPOWA they are generally liars.
What we know is that there are plenty of people who have still not been paid for their land, robbed of their livelihood and robbed of their land, isn’t that pretty sick. I can publish lists of those who remain unpaid, but they would have to suffer the spite from Gonsalves and his jerkoff supporters.

The only thing that is marching forward is the terminal which is being paid for by Taiwan and built by them.

The Government have owed the private section multi-millions for years, even some little cafes that have been owed money for sandwiches and snacks sent into the financial complex. They owe truck drivers, contractors and all sorts of other business’s. In fact they recently borrowed a substantial sum from Coreas Hazels Inc to pay wages. The government are bankrupt in money and ideas and are driving many business’s into bankruptcy. The supermarket at Stoney Ground taken over by the Chastoneys from Aunt Jobes has closed, 100s out of work from that closure, every Vincentian business is feeling the pinch. A lot of the problem is coming from the Argyle Airport, Cuban workers are being paid $375 a week and Vincentians from $60 to $100 dollars a week. The Cuban money is remitted to Cuba, whereas if all that money was paid to Vincentians it would boost the economy by circulating through local business’s. Instead its boosting the Cuban economy, just to satisfy Gonsalves’s stupid Marxist small minded politics.

I would not name any teacher, they would suffer at the hands of this regime, the spite is dreadful, they would wake up and find themselves posted to somewhere in the Grenadines, even the moon if that was at all possible.

What you are saying VINCYPOWA, is for the people of SVG to turn the other cheek, to show love whilst being shafted by an evil Marxist regime, who are exploiting them and turning the whole population into paupers.

YOU VINCYPOWA REMAIN A MAN OF CRAP
